Calleri topples top seed
Guillermo Canas
Canas broke first but Calleri eventually prevailed

Agustin Calleri beat top seed Guillermo Canas 6-3 7-5 in an all-Argentine quarter-final at the Swedish Open on Friday.

Unseeded Calleri overcame an early break by Canas who scored a rare 6-0 6-0 win in his second-round match against Albert Montanes.

"It was a very tough start for me because I was nervous," said Calleri, who also beat Canas in straight sets in their first meeting on clay last year.

"I got broken early in the first set, but then I relaxed and started playing better.

"In the second set I got nervous again at 5-3. I started missing some easy forehands. The key for me was to keep my concentration."

Robredo comeback

Calleri, who has not dropped a set in three matches here, will play Carlos Moya of Spain in Saturday's semi-finals.

Former French Open champion Moya advanced with a 6-3 6-2 win over Nikolay Davydenko of Russia.

Magnus Norman

Fourth-seeded Tommy Robredo of Spain also reached the semis, coming from a set down to defeat two-time champion Magnus Norman of Sweden 2-6 6-3 6-3.

Norman, a wild-card entry in Bastad after falling out of the top 100 because of a hip injury, raced to a 5-0 lead in the opening set.

"He started real well," Robredo said. "In the second set, I started playing better and better, and finally I was able to play my own game."

Robredo will next face second seed Younes El Aynaoui of Morocco who beat Spain's Albert Portas 4-6 6-1 6-4.
