Tigers crush Wildcats
Waine Pryce
Pryce ran in four tries for the home side
Castleford 44-6 Wakefield

Castleford continued their stunning Super League form as Waine Pryce scored four tries to worsen Wakefield's relegation woes.

The Tigers have lost just once in the last eight matches and produced an inspired second-half performance, scoring 34 points to the Wildcats' four.

Pryce was the form man for the home side, completing his quartet of tries in a 15-minute spell just after the interval.

We have been consistent now for 12 weeks and long may it continue
Castleford coach Graham Steadman

Wakefield took the early lead when Brad Davis converted a penalty against his former employers.

But, in a tight first half, the Tigers found themselves in front five minutes later when Dale Fritz scored from the back of a scrum.

Wayne Bartrim failed with his conversion but he made no mistake with his spot kick 10 minutes later following a Jon Wells try.

Once again the visitors were made to pay at a scrum deep in their territory and Ryan Hudson popped the ball to Wells, who touched down with little opposition.

After the break Wakefield fell apart as Pryce clinched the first of his four tries.

Danny Orr's kick to the corner rebounded off the Wakefield defence and the ball bounced comfortably for Pryce who collected and promptly carried it over the line.

He got his name on the score sheet again four minutes later after latching on to another kick ahead, this time by Hudson.

Orr was the supplier for his final two efforts, the third from another kick downfield and the fourth from a simple pass just yards from Wakefield's try line.

Orr added a score of his own along with Mark Lennon for a 38-point winning margin.

And there was scant consolation for Wakefield, who are just one point ahead of bottom-placed Salford, with a late Gareth Ellis try.
