Great Britain's golden girl was at it again in 2010, winning European heptathlon gold after dominating in Barcelona. The 24-year-old led her rivals from start to finish in Spain as she edged out Olympic champion Nataliya Dobrynska to add the European title to the world championship crown she won in 2009. | CARL DORAN BLOG |
For Ennis, the European win was another indication of her world class, as she overcame the best heptathletes of the current era - with only Hyleas Fountain of the USA not involved. Ennis also showed her dominance when she claimed world indoor gold in the pentathlon in Doha in March - another milestone for the Sheffield star. After proving once again that she is the one to beat, Ennis took some time off at the end of the season to allow her to focus on the World Championships in 2011 and London 2012. Ennis came third at the 2009 Sports Personality of the Year event, held in her home city, and will hope to be pushing for another top placing in Birmingham.
