Srichaphan had an inspired season in 2002, undoubtedly the best ever in his career to date. A surprise victory over Andre Agassi in the second round of Wimbledon last year seemed to act as a stunning catalyst.
Although his Wimbledon ambitions were cut short soon afterwards, his second half of the season was rarely bettered by any other player on the ATP Tour.
He reached three finals, winning two of them - in Stockholm and Long Island - as well as making his way to the final four of the Tennis Masters Series event in Paris.
He has continued to do well this season in which he has won in Chennai and reached the semi-finals in Miami.
Although the hard-court game brings out the best in the Thai 24-year-old, his style ought to be suited to Wimbledon's grass as well.
But it is in the latter stages of the year - post-SW19 - when the focus turns off grass and clay, that he really tends to flourish.
