Schuettler's career high undoubtedly came at the Australian Open where he reached the final before being outplayed by Andre Agassi. Despite being among the seeds, the German was not tipped to excel but defeated both Marat Safin and Andy Roddick en route to his runners-up spot.
After reaching the final, Schuettler revealed his delight at reaching the last hurdle and his desire to repeat the feat at future Grand Slams.
Wimbledon is unlikely to provide the answer - his best finish so far is two visits to the third round.
Schuettler has steadily improved his ranking over the past four years and become a regular in the latter stages of tournaments.
A baseliner with great agility and a strong return, at 27 years old he looks to be reaching his peak.
As with compatriot Nicolas Kiefer, Schuettler has struggled to live up to the achievements of fellow countrymen Michael Stich and, especially, Boris Becker.
