Malisse is looking to further enhance the reputation of Belgian tennis following great strides in the women's game.

The French Open final between compatriots Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin-Hardenne showed just how far the nation had progressed.

But while a talented young prospect, Malisse has yet to properly convert his promise into major success.

He showed his class when reaching the last eight at Wimbledon in 2002, his run including five-set triumphs over Greg Rusedski and Richard Krajicek.

Then the pressure got to him as he blew his chance of making the final by crashing out to David Nalbandian.

Malisse said he suffered heart palpitations during another epic match that went all the way.
