British teenager Heather Watson beat India's Sania Mirza to claim the biggest title of her career at the Aegon GB Pro-Series event in Wrexham.

The 18-year-old fourth seed from Guernsey won Sunday's final 6-2 6-4 against the top seed.

Watson, the British number seven, is ranked 120 places below Mirza at 262nd in the world.

Britons Francesca Stephenson and Tara Moore beat top seeds Emma Laine and Mirza 2-6 6-3 (13-11) in the doubles.

"I won a US$10k event in Frinton around this time last year but this is my very first $25k event victory," Watson told the LTA website.

"Against Sania I just told myself I had nothing to lose because she's been ranked 27 in the world before and she is a really good player.

"I just did a lot of running and got as many balls in court as I could."
