Watson out of Glasgow first round

Watson ready for professional challenge

Guernsey tennis star Heather Watson has lost to Tunisian veteran Selima Sfar in the first round of the Aegon Pro-Series event in Glasgow.

The 17-year-old managed to force the match to three sets, but eventually lost in the final set tie-break 7-2.

Sfar, 33, who is ranked nearly 300 places higher than the Guernsey player, took the match 6-2 2-6 7-6.

Watson is now set to appear in doubles action, partnering 20-year-old Naomi Cavaday for the first time.

Watson and Cavaday are set to take on Samantha Vickers and Hannah Hume.
