Heather Watson and Laura Robson are through to round two of the women's doubles at the Aegon Pro Series in Barnstaple after a shock win.

The duo were already out of the singles event when they beat second seeds Sarah Borwell and Mel South in straight sets.

Watson, 17, and Robson, 15, took the first set 6-2, before a fight back from the older pair saw them take a 3-1 lead in the second set.

The teenagers broke back to take the set to tie-break, which they won 8-6.

Watson had previously defeated Mel South 7-6 6-2 in the first round of the ladies singles, before losing to Kristina Mladevnovic, who was ranked more than 400 places higher, 6-2 4-6 2-6 in the second.

Robson lost 6-4 7-6 to Naomi Cavaday in the opening round.
