Guernsey triathlete Sam Herridge has returned to training after suffering from a chronic achilles tendon injury.

Herridge sustained the injury in June at the Ferrol ITU points race, and has been out of action ever since.

she said: "That race was effectively the end of my season. During the last laps of the run I was in so much pain."

Herridge has called upon the services of 2006 Commonwealth Games athlete Alan Rowe to work as her coach during her return to the sport.

She said: "I'm really looking forward to working with Alan, he's a great motivator.

"I'm under no illusions that it's going to be easy, I still have so much work to do.

"I need to make my body stronger to resist any more injuries that crop up, and most importantly I need to remain focused on the races ahead," she added.
