Exeter Chiefs' Alcott rejects Worcester Warriors move

Exeter

Exeter Chiefs hooker Simon Alcott will stay at the club next season after deciding against a move to relegated side Worcester Warriors.

The 26-year-old was set to join Richard Hill's squad over the summer, but Exeter boss Rob Baxter talked him out of the switch.

Alcott said: "I must thank Worcester for allowing me to change my mind, it was very decent of them.

"Exeter were the club that gave me my chance to play professional rugby."

He added: "I am very excited at the prospect of playing with them in the Premiership and developing further under Rob and Robin's [Cowling] tutelage."

Alcott, who joined the Chiefs from Worthing in 2008, made 23 appearances for Baxter's side as they won promotion to the Premiership last term.

Baxter said: "We are glad Simon has decided to stay with us.

"He has only played professional rugby for two years and I believe there is a lot more to come from him."
