| Brett Davey has been left out of the Dragons squad for the Heineken Cup, despite playing in four of the first five Celtic league and cup games this season. The two full-backs chosen are South African-star Percy Montgomery, whose suspension ends a few days before the European kick-off, and Tongan Sione Tuipulotu, who has been promoted from the Newport club side. Among the other squad players not listed for Europe are wing Kevin James, who has made just one appearance, full-back Richard Davies, and locks Neil Edwards and Martin Morgan who have not played at all. Veteran Newport prop Sven Cronk, a former captain of the club side, is among the extra front-row players drafted into the Dragons' European register to comply with tournament regulations. The Dragons open their campaign with a home tie against Ulster on 7 December (1430 GMT). Stade Francais and Leicester also feature in their formidable group. Five players have been offered release terms by Dragons administrators PricewaterhouseCooper as they try to cut costs, although none has yet accepted.
