Brown sticking with Dragons
Tony Brown
Newport benefactor Tony Brown will continue as a major investor in the Dragons, despite concern from Welsh Rugby Union group chief executive David Moffett that the Black and Ambers would try to make it a stand-alone side.

"We do need funding and Tony Brown is the one who's given clear indications he's prepared to provide that again," said Dragons administrator Paul Harding. "There's never been any intention of asking the WRU for extra funding.

"We have had extremely constructive dialogue with representatives of the WRU and are in talks to make sure they are happy with what we're doing."

Even though five fringe members of the squad have been offered release terms, Harding says there is no pressure on them and that the issue has been put on the back-burner.

"We're working hard to put things into place for the Connacht game on 23 November, and it would be extremely pleasing for the management, the team and the WRU if there is a big crowd."
