Steve Hansen has said that the Scarlets - along with the Warriors - will lead Wales' challenge in this season's Heineken Cup. "The Warriors are going to end up with a complete international side while the Scarlets have had one for three or four years," said the Wales coach.
"The Scarlets have gone close the last couple of years and the Warriors side has to be good. We have got regional sides with genuine competition for places. The more competition the better the players will get.
"If they perform to their potential we have got two sides there that will go really good, and possibly three or four."
The Scarlets open their European campaign with a home match against Northampton at Stradey Park - a chance for the Llanelli side to avenge their 2000 semi-final defeat against the Saints, who went on to claim the Cup that year.
Also featuring in Pool 4 are Agen and Borders.
