Former All Blacks captain Tana Umaga has signed a one-year deal, believed to be worth around �250,000, to play for French second division club Toulon. The 33-year-old will arrive at the club at the end of October, after Wellington's involvement in the National Provincial Championship.
"He is one of the most emblematic players on the planet," said Toulon co-president Mourad Boudjellal.
Toulon have also signed former England wing Dan Luger on a one-year deal.
Luger, who had two seasons with Perpignan from 2003-05 in the French top flight, took a sabbatical from frontline rugby last season, when he appeared periodically on the sevens circuit with England.
The former Saracens and Harlequins wing, who scored 24 tries in 38 Tests for England, will join Toulon at the end of July, after his wedding on 23 July.
Umaga, who retired from Test rugby in January, scored 36 tries in 74 Tests for the All Blacks, the last 21 as captain.
In 2005 he led the All Blacks to a series win over the Lions, the Tri-Nations title and a 'grand slam' over the home unions in Britain and Ireland.
