Winger Ed Dawson scored a vital late try for Jersey |
A last gasp try from Ed Dawson clinched a crucial bonus-point for Jersey in their 37-10 win at mid-table Worthing. Dawson's last minute score means the Islanders take five points from the game and narrow the gap at the top of National Two South to two points. Two David Doherty tries, a penalty try and 17 points from the boot of Michael Le Bourgeois had already put second-placed Jersey in a strong position. The match was the game in hand on the league leaders Ealing. Jersey chairman Bill Dempsey said: "Worthing played really well in the first half so we were happy to get the penalty try. "Doherty got two fantastic tries - one in each corner - so great wing play." Rob Smith grabbed Worthing's only try of the game.
