Vagabonds lost by a single point away at Bowdon in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One on Saturday. The home side started brightly and scored three quick tries to lead 17-0 before the Manx side fought back to draw level before half-time. Vagas continued their fight back in the second half to lead 31-22 only for Bowdon to snatch victory late on. Vagabonds captain Leigh Kennaugh said: "I was proud of the performance, every player was totally committed." He added: "We started slowly but it was a great fight back. We had several key players missing but I couldn't have asked for more." The defeat leaves the Isle of Man side eighth going into the visit of Glossop on Saturday. Meanwhile, both Manx sides in Division Two enjoyed fine home victories. Ramsey thrashed Trentham 66-5 at the Mooragh Park whilst Douglas edged out Wallasey 22-17 at Port-e-Chee. Elsewhere, Southern Nomads underlined their credentials with a 31-10 win over Vagabonds B in the Shimmin Wilson Trophy.
