Esher head coach Mike Schmid has called for his players to be more consistent following their fourth loss of the Championship campaign.

Esher were beaten 38-16 away to bottom side Birmingham and Solihull on Sunday, and remain eighth in the table.

Schmid told BBC Surrey: "We're a bit Jekyll and Hyde at the moment. We need to play a smarter, more committed game.

"We've got to really work on our mental approach collectively to make sure we are in every game we need to be."

Schimd was not pleased by their performance against Birmingham and Solihull.

"I'm never a happy man when you lost games, but I'm very disappointed by the manner in which we lost," he said.

"We went out with a game plan and didn't execute it in the first half. We sat back and were passengers in the game."

"I think the boys were living on last week's glory and thought we could turn up and not work hard to win the game."
