Worcester Warriors win at Esher a step forward - Hill
Andy Goode scored two of Worcester's six tries at Esher
Worcester head coach Richard Hill says that the Warriors' win at Esher on Sunday is a step forward for his side.
Andy Goode and Tom Arscott each crossed twice in the Warriors' 48-3 success.
"Esher are a good side and to score six tries against them on their own ground is no mean feat," Hill told BBC Hereford & Worcester.
"Bristol came here and lost but we made it hard work for ourselves because we should have scored two tries in the first half."
After a tight first half, Hill felt his team talk had centred on the need for the Warriors to start well after the break to put clear blue water between themselves and the hosts.
"We went in 13-3 up at half-time and the players responded by putting together a superb start to the second half," Hill added.
"That was what we needed just to try and kill of Esher and in the end we scored some lovely tries."
Hill went on to say that the Warriors' backline will have to up their fitness levels if they are to make an immediate return to the Premiership.
"It's hard work and I am pretty tired just from watching some of the play," he said.
"The players are starting to realise you have to be pretty fit to play a multi-phase game."
"Tom Arscott did a huge amount of running and some great counter-attacking. He was scoring a try and they were then kicking to him again and he was having to find the energy to go again.
"But I thought today was certainly his best game of the season so far."
Esher coach Mike Schmid told BBC Surrey: "I was pretty happy how we played in the first-half and we showed ambition and a bit of pace and with some really good phases of attacking play and our defence was strong.
"Second half we didn't come out with the same ambition, partially because of the sin-bin which always hurts our discipline and where we give penalties away was poor today.
"They fought hard and I think Worcester class in full-time preparations shone at the end."
