Guernsey lose promotion play-off

Guernsey Rugby Club missed out on the chance of promotion as they lost their play-off game against Hove by 17-14 in Sussex on Saturday.

It means the green and whites will remain in London Division Two South West, while their opponents move up to London One South.

Guernsey dominated large parts of the first half, but found themselves trailing 3-0 at half time.

Cameron Patten crossed the line twice but two Hove tries sealed the game.

Guernsey qualified for the play-offs by finishing second in the table, their highest ever finish in the league, after third-placed Tottonians lost 41-0 to league winners London Irish Amateurs a week earlier.

Guernsey will have to pick themselves up for their annual Siam Cup battle against Jersey on 1 May.
