Blair Cowan scored Pirates first try of the match |
Plymouth Albion were made to pay for four missed penalties as Cornish Pirates ran out comfortable winners in Sunday's Championship play-off. In difficult conditions, the Pirates opened the scoring 16 minutes in courtesy of a Rob Cook penalty. The opening try came when Blair Cowan drove over after a five metre scrum, with Cook adding the conversion. Before half-time fly-half Jonny Bentley wrong-footed the Albion defence to run home the Pirates' second try. After the break, the wind and rain continued to worsen but the Cornish Pirates stood strong in defence. Plymouth lock Tyler Hotson was sent to the sin-bin late in the game for a punch on Laurie McGlone.
