Plymouth Albion have qualified for the Championship play-offs after beating Doncaster at Castle Park on Saturday. Albion started strongly in the must-win game with wing Ben Mercer touching down after only 42 seconds. Both sides then traded penalties before second-half tries from Albion centres Sione Tuipulotu and Keni Fisilau put the visitors 20-3 in front. Doncaster came back with a second penalty and penalty try, but Plymouth held on to secure the victory. Doncaster's two penalties came courtesy of fly-half Ali Warnock, whilst Kieran Hallet kicked a penalty and conversion for Albion. The result gave Albion their first ever win at Castle Park and sets them up with a home tie against Bedford Blues in the first round of the play-offs next Saturday. Plymouth and Bedford are joined by Bristol and Cornish Pirates in Pool A of the play-offs. Doncaster, who had qualified for the play-offs prior to the game, will play away at London Welsh in Pool B next Saturday.
