Jersey in action against Basingstoke in National Three |
Jersey Rugby Club will be overwhelming favourites for Saturday's away clash at league strugglers Haywards Heath. Jersey, who have a comfortable 12-point lead at the top of National Three South, beat Haywards Heath 72-8 earlier in the season. But despite Saturday's opponents being 12th in the league, Jersey coach Ben Harvey is not underestimating them. He said: "Complacency is a word that we mention and say that we'll try not to embrace, so it's a big game for us." Last Saturday Jersey pulled off a stunning 19-12 win against their closest league rivals Old Albanians, a result that has given Harvey a lot of optimism. "The boys showed an enormous amount of commitment," he said. "It was a big game, and last year we played in a big game against Barnes and we came unstuck, but this year we came through and I thought the boys did fantastically." On the downside, last Saturday's win saw two key members of Jersey's pack pick up injuries. Lock Jim Brownrigg, will miss the game with a back injury, while number eight Nick Trower is out with a dead leg.
