Jorgen Petterson is chairman of the International Island Games Association |
Jersey's bid to host the 2015 Island Games will come under close scrutiny with the visit of an inspection team. Both the chairman and vice-chairman of the International Island Games Executive will be looking at the venues and infrastructure on offer. Jorgen Pettersson and James Johnson also have to look at Gotland, the only other island hoping to host in 2015. The decision will be announced at the end of June at the next annual general meeting in the Isle of Wight. Jersey have only once before hosted the bi-annual Games in 1997, with Gotland holding the event two years later. Both bids are expected to be of the highest quality and it will be up to the 25 member islands to make their choice at the next AGM. The hosts for the next games in 2011, the Isle of Wight, will stage the meeting during the weekend of 26 and 27 June.
