Gomez is on loan at Leeds from Irish province Leinster |
Leeds Carnegie director of rugby Andy Key has refused to rush Juan Gomez back to first-team action. The Argentine prop had been sidelined with a calf problem for the majority of November and December and then injured his hamstring on his return. "Juan is still another three or four weeks away," Key told BBC Radio Leeds. "It is important that when Juan comes back this time we know he is 100% fit and really ready to go. We don't want he breaking down again." Gomez is sharing the physio's bench with fellow props Fosi Pala'amo and Pete Bucknall, but Tommy McGee has recovered from his knock. Key has revealed that Gomez's recovery time will determine whether they delve into the loan market. "We are not sure that we'll do that yet, we need to take stock of the whole situation," explained Key. "We've had a little look within the market. I expect we'll make a decision within the next week to 10 days." Meanwhile Leeds have proposed Wednesday, 8 April to play their postponed game at Manchester, but that is yet to be confirmed. BBC Radio Leeds has exclusive full match commentary on 103.9 FM and online of Coventry v Leeds Carnegie on Saturday in National One.
