Leeds Carnegie have revealed Pete Bucknall's knee injury is not as bad as first feared.

The prop limped out of Sunday's win over Coventry and a serious injury would have left Leeds with just three fit players in that position.

Head coach Neil Back told the club's website: "Pete is unlikely to feature this week at Coventry.

"However, we are confident that he should be available for selection the following week against Esher."

Fosi Pala'amo and Juan Gomez are already sidelined through injury, while Tommy McGee has also been carrying a knock.

Bucknall originally picked up the knee problem in their Yorkshire Derby with Rotherham Titans at the start of 2009.

Back added: "Pete has a knee injury that we are monitoring and he will continue to receive treatment on it.

"We have been managing it over the past couple of weeks."

Meanwhile, forward Kearnan Myall has put his England Saxons call-up down to the high standards set at Leeds Carnegie.

The second-rower made his Saxons debut in the 66-0 win over Portugal and was the only player in the squad not from a Premiership side.

"I think Leeds are going forward in the right direction and are taking huge steps," Myall told BBC Radio Leeds.

"I was the only non Premiership player in the Saxons squad and that reflects on the standards set by Leeds."

Myall's form this season for Leeds earned him the captain's armband in Leeds' 52-0 win over Coventry in the National Trophy on Sunday.

It was only the second time the lock has lead the West Yorkshire side.

Myall added: "I'm probably not a natural leader, but it's a great honour to do it, especially as I've been here for so many years.

"I try to perform well and inspire the boys that way rather than give any monumental speeches.

"I like to think I've taken it with both hands and have enjoyed doing it."
