Front row Pala'amo out for season

Fosi Pala'amo
Pala'amo was the heaviest Premiership player in 2007

Leeds Carnegie's Fosi Pala'amo has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The 32-year-old Samoan prop injured his hand against Exeter on 20 December and has now undergone an operation.

Welsh fly-half Jason Strange is also sidelined with various niggling injuries and will not face London Welsh at Headingley on Sunday.

Head coach Neil Back told BBC Radio Leeds: "Fosi is now out for 12 weeks at least, while Jason has a few niggling injuries so we won't risk him."

Pala'amo and Strange are currently Leeds' only injured players after Henry Paul's recovery from a broken rib, which he sustained on Boxing Day against Otley.

Back added: "Jason could play against London Welsh if really needed.

"But he's had a lot of niggling injuries this season and so has missed out on a lot of physical development the rest of the squad has had.

"So we are just managing him very carefully so we don't break him. He could play this weekend, but we are very unlikely to risk him.

BBC Radio Leeds has full match commentary of Leeds Carnegie v London Welsh on 774 AM, DAB and online at bbc.co.uk/leeds from 1450 GMT on Sunday.
