Featherstone Rovers have signed James Kitchen from local amateur club Featherstone Lions. Rovers beat off competition from Super League championships Leeds Rhinos for the highly rated 15-year-old forward, who has penned a three-year deal. Head coach Daryl Powell said: "I am delighted we have been able to sign a young player as talented as James. "He has the raw potential to be a huge hit in Rugby League. We are committed to developing elite young talent. The West Yorkshire club's scholarship manager Robin Sharp added: "This is a really big signing for us. "I have followed James' progress over the last 3 years. He is a big, strong, aggressive go-forward type of player with massive potential. "He is a product of our scholarship scheme and we feel we can offer him the right environment to develop and progress his career with a pathway to first team rugby".
