Left-wing Brian Tuohy scored a hat-trick as Cornish Pirates recovered from their derby defeat at Plymouth with victory at Old Deer Park.

At 7-3 down, inside centre Mark Ireland put the Pirates ahead, before Tuohy cashed in when London Welsh failed to clear their lines.

Tuohy scored his second in first-half stoppage time to give Pirates a 22-13 lead at the break.

He completed his hat-trick after the break, while Ed Fairhurst also scored.
