Welham signs new deal at Rovers

Hull KR

Hull KR have confirmed centre Kris Welham has signed a new contract with the club, which will keep him at Craven Park until the end of the 2009 season.

The East Hull-born 21-year-old only made his debut earlier this year.

"Kris is a player with huge amounts of talent and natural skill," Rovers boss Justin Morgan told the club's website.

"He has improved considerably over the last few months and is benefiting from his time in the first team with the more senior players of the squad."

The youthful centre has been ever-present in recent games as regular centres Jake Webster and Chev Walker are out with injuries.

Welham scored his first try for the club on Friday during the win over the Catalans Dragons.

Welham added: "I'm really looking forward to another year with KR, I've a lot to learn and can't wait to push for a regular first-team spot.

"It's exciting times for the club now that we've been granted a licence and I'm very proud of that."
