Tries: Mounis, Khattabi, Duport Goals: Bosc 2

Hull KR kept their play-off hopes alive as they earned a deserved win over third-placed Catalans Dragons.

After a cagey opening, Gregory Mounis opened the scoring for the Dragons before Kris Welham skilfully levelled the score for the home side.

Younes Khattabi crossed out wide for the Dragons, but Chaz I'Anson's try on the stroke of half-time put the Robins into a lead they never relinquished.

And tries from Ben Fisher, Ben Cockayne and Michael Vella made sure of the win.

Hull KR, once again without Paul Cooke, went into the match on the back of six defeats in seven league games, but they regained form in fine fashion with an impressive victory at Craven Park.

There was little to choose between the sides in the opening exchanges, despite some exciting surges from Stanley Gene, but Mounis breezed over from close range after a smart pass by Aaron Gorrell.

Chris Chester was carried off on a stretcher in a neck brace after a worrying five-minute delay, but Hull KR regained their composure as Welham showed fine football skills to knock Michael Dobson's kick ahead ahead and touch down.

Adam Mogg wasted a great position for the Dragons with a senseless forward pass on the third tackle, but his side scored a few minutes later as Khattabi took three defenders over the line with him out wide.

I'Anson pounced just before the break after a great ball by Gene, and they carried that momentum into the second half as Fisher took Jason Netherton's offload to race clear and score.

Dobson had a try disallowed for a knock-on, while Thomas Bosc threw a shocker of a pass at the other end to butcher a fine opportunity for the Dragons.

Cockayne slid over for a fourth home try after Dobson's running skills opened up the Catalans defence, and Vella extended their lead thanks to a clever play by Ben Galea.

Vincent Duport did score out wide for the Dragons to give them hope, but their subsequent wastefulness near the try-line ensured they suffered a second straight defeat for the first time since March.

Hull KR coach Justin Morgan:

"It was a really good team performance and some of the young kids stepped up to the plate.

"Kris Welham will be a very good player with a little bit more weight on him, Chaz I'Anson slotted in nicely and Kirk Netherton dida good job.

"We got the win against a team that has been the most consistent all season."

Catalans coach Mick Potter:

"I can't remember being more disappointed this year. I was disappointed with our handling in the first half.

"I think that Hull KR fully deserved the win. They played with a good shape and with some good enthusiasm. None of our players could tackle Stanley Gene.

"They were a different team from when I last saw them lose to Hull and that's of credit to the coach and to the team.

"The players should take this as a wake-up call for the rest of the season and we really need to improve our ball handling."
