Reds' fightback earns draw
Brad Davis of Wakefield
Brad Davis played a key role for Wakefield
Salford 22-22 Wakefield

Two late tries from Danny Arnold and Ian Watson saved a point for Salford in a see-saw relegation clash with Wakefield.

Wakefield led 22-12 with five minutes to go and looked set to move three points clear of bottom club Salford before the Reds hit back.

Arnold squeezed in at the corner for his second try before sub Ian Watson darted over and Graham Holroyd coolly landed the conversion to level the match.

Wakefield went ahead in the sixth minute with a penalty from Ian Knott before a Steve Blakeley try and two Holroyd goals put Salford 8-2 up.

Level at break

Wakefield drew level when Andrew Frew collected Deon Bird's pass to go over and Knott landed a penalty after a high tackle by Andy Coley on Paul Jackson.

Early in the second half, the impressive Brad Davis added a drop goal.

But Salford went in front with Arnold's first try on the hour.

Wakefield regained the lead when Michael Wainwright failed to gather Frew's kick and the Australian winger kicked further ahead to score.

Davis added the conversion and then booted his second drop goal before capping a fine night by finishing off Bird's break for a try, which he then converted.

But Salford refused to give up and were rewarded for their determination with the two late tries.
