Dominant Rhinos back on track

Leeds 52-10 Hull

Coach Daryl Powell praised his Leeds Rhinos side as they reclaimed fourth place in Super League with a 52-10 rout of Hull.

The result ended a miserable run of just one win in five home games as the regular league season draws to a close.

Leeds never looked back after storming into a 12-0 lead inside the opening 11 minutes.

They spread their tries through the team, with Mark Calderwood, Keith Senior, Tonie Carroll, Matt Adamson, Karl Pratt, Ben Walker and promising newcomer Jamie Jones-Buchanan all going over.

We forced a lot of errors from Hull

Hull were nearly 30 points behind at the interval but although they regrouped Hull regrouped and produced a better performance in the second half, they still found Leeds difficult to contain.

Their effort was rewarded with tries for Paul Cooke and Leeds old boy Jackson.

Powell said: "This is the most important time of the season but we can't get carried away with this result. We must continue to work hard for each other.

"The first half was as good a rugby league performance as you will see. It was important that we got back on track and this win has ensured we have done just that.

"But we must not get carried away. We must enjoy this win but also start preparing for next week.

I have no real positives to take out of this game
Shaun McRae
Hull coach

"I was delighted with our defence because we really attacked the ball. That meant we forced a lot of errors from the Hull side."

Hull coach Shaun McRae described his side's display as "the worst in my three years at the club".

He said: "We were second best in every department, hence the scoreline. Leeds came at us at a million miles an hour from the start.

"In the first half, we only completed about 40 per cent of our sets of six and that is no good against a team like Leeds. I knew they would come out flying tonight after two recent defeats.

"I have no real positives to take out of this game."
