Wakefield booked a Super League play-off place with victory in a try-laden game at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. Tries from Dale Ferguson, Sam Obst, Luke George and Sean Gleeson put the visitors in command before George's second try just after the break. Obst claimed a second try on the hour while Michael Monaghan added to first-half tries for the Wolves by Kevin Penny, Chris Riley and Paul Johnson. Dale Morton and Gareth Carvill touched down at each end at the climax.
Warrington director of rugby Tony Smith: "We have got a few areas to improve on in a week, to get right. | 606: DEBATE |
"Defence is a major part to get right. We got enough points or tries to win but it's no good when you concede almost double. "We defend as a team and lose as a team and are very disappointed with the result today." Wakefield coach John Kear: "A performance like that was brilliant because we really looked after the ball. "In the second half we showed some front with our defence and played some good field position rugby league as well so I'm very happy indeed. "We have clocked off a couple times of late and I think that was the call to try finish strong. "We have achieved our goal for the points total we set at the start of the season but it's now a matter of trying to better it and that's what we'll be intent on doing in the last two games."
