Organisers are confident more than half of the competitors will make the 19th Open International Masters Meet this weekend, despite travel problems. The Guernsey Swimming Club had received 151 entrants from 34 clubs, but the grounding of flights by a volcanic ash cloud means some will not make it. Organiser John Eyre said there was a real determination to get to the event. A number of competitors have transferred to ferries, but others are finding there are no spaces left.
