Guernsey sailor Johanna Asplund has been selected in the British team for the Optimist European Championships in Poland in July.

Asplund is only the second sailor from Guernsey to gain a place on the Great Britain squad.

The Championships will involve around 30 countries from across the globe and features non-European nations including New Zealand and Australia.

Zoe Parkinson was the first Guernsey sailor to qualify for the British team.

She was awarded a place at the 2009 European Championships.
