Guernsey sailors are being given the chance to compete for £2000 prize money in a new local yacht race.

The Impi Shield is being held for the first time on Saturday and is open to all yachts in the island.

Organiser Ray Redelinghuys said the course runs 20 nautical mile south-west to Rouches Douvres with the start and finish in Guernsey.

"I'm hoping that this race will in time grow and attract more tourism to Guernsey," he said.
