More than twenty yachts will arrive in Guernsey for four days of racing in the biennial Swan Rendezvous starting on Monday May bank holiday (26 May). Two locally-based boats are taking part, John Falla's Banjaard, as well as Tomahawk, owned by Gordon Wilson, Vice Commodore of the Guernsey Yacht Club. Wilson said: "We expect the competition this year to be particularly stiff. "But I know we and the crew of Banjaard will do our best to try to ensure that Guernsey features well again." | Swan Yachts All Swans are built at a factory in Finland They range in length from 40 to 120 feet Costing around 500,000 A Swan won the First Whitbread Round the World Race A Swan was the first racing yacht to win every day at Cowes There are an estimated 2000 Swan yachts sailing the world |
Wilson added: "All of our team are really looking forward not only to the excellent sailing and social programme, but also to renewing the friendly rivalry with the returning members of the Club Swan family. "We are particularly delighted that David Pitt, who was hospitalised when his Swan 37 Cosi Fun Tutte was badly damaged two years ago, was one of the first yachts to enter for this event. "And we look forward to welcoming him and his crew, now that David and his yacht are restored to good health."
