Newcastle Vipers forward Matic Kralj is crossing the Channel to join French Magnus League side Morzine-Avoriaz for the 2010-11 season.

Kralj netted 29 goals and 41 assists in 55 games during the regular season following his summer move from Maribor HK and leaves with the club's blessing.

"He's been up there all season in terms of points and deserves this move to France," said coach Rob Wilson.

"We knew he was coming to Newcastle to help put himself in the shop window."

The 26-year-old winger scored 65 points from 34 league games for the Slovenian League runners-up.

A product of the Olympia Ljubljana system, the forward also spent five seasons in North America in the Central Hockey League, posting 85 goals and 120 assists with three CHL clubs.

Kralj returned to Europe in 2007, and last year posted career highs in goals (23), assists (42) and penalty minutes (93) for Maribor.
