Guildford Flames ended their summer training camp with a win and a defeat against Swindon Wildcats as they prepare for the new EPL season. The Surrey side were beaten 4-3 in Wiltshire but responded with an 8-1 victory at the Spectrum. Flames head coach Paul Dixon said: "You make decisions all summer long that you think are the right ones, but it is all theoretical until you get on the ice. "I am very pleased with the weekend even though we lost the Saturday game." He added: "We played very well on both nights and had plenty of chances on Saturday to come away on top, but for a few small mistakes that should be easily corrected. "Everyone worked hard and there was a lot of excitement on our bench about what might be possible this season. "Now we look forward to getting into the regular schedule routine and trying to get a good jump on the league this weekend." The Flames start their EPL season away to Milton Keynes Lightning on Saturday, face-off at 7pm, then on Sunday host Basingstoke Bison.
