Flames add former junior to ranks

Ice hockey

Guildford Flames have signed forward Tom Duggan from Bracknell Bees.

The former Flames junior, 19, played his first full senior season with the Bees last year, finishing as their joint top-scorer with 19 goals.

Flames head coach Paul Dixon told the club website: "We were impressed with what we saw of him with the Bees.

"His ability earned him significant responsibility with the team despite his age. He seems to be a smart player at this early stage of his career."

Duggan moved to the United States after his time at Guildford as a junior, picking up 20 goals and 32 assists in the US High School Junior League in his final season before returning to the UK.

Dixon added: "An important part of roster building is to ensure that every now and again you rotate in the next generation of players.

"It is a bonus that we have a guy who was part of our own development unit and who is able to make an immediate contribution."
