Northants 135-2 beat Surrey 134 by eight wickets (Northants 2pts)

O'Brien brought up his 50 off 33 balls

Niall O'Brien smashed an unbeaten 81 off 46 balls as Northants romped to an eight-wicket Pro40 Division Two victory over Surrey at Wantage Road.

Only Rangana Herath (39), Matt Spriegel (18) and Tim Linley (17no) reached double figures as Surrey were skittled for 134, David Lucas taking 3-32.

Ireland wicketkeeper O'Brien then hit three sixes and 12 fours as Northants got home in just 15.3 overs.

It was only Northants' second Pro40 win in six attempts this season.

Surrey, meanwhile, slumped to their fifth defeat from six matches in the competition to continue their disappointing season in all forms of the game.
