Norfolk and Shuker are both aiming for Melbourne success |
Paralympic champion Peter Norfolk recovered from a second set slump to reach the Australian Open quad singles final in Melbourne. The world number one beat American David Wagner 6-2 0-6 6-3 for his second win in the round-robin phase, securing his place in Saturday's decider. Fellow Briton Lucy Shuker also booked her place in the women's doubles final. Shuker and Australia's Daniela di Toro beat Germany's Katharina Kruger and Annick Sevenans of Belgium 6-1 6-1. Shuker, who is chasing her first Grand Slam title, and Di Toro will face France's Florence Gravellier and Aniek van Koot of the Netherlands in Friday's final. Norfolk made a good start against Wagner, the world number two, reeling off the last four games of the first set but he won only 11 points throughout the second set to set up the decider. But Norfolk regained his form with another four games in a row to take a commanding 5-2 lead and he eventually sealed victory on his third match point. With the top two players after the round robin phase to reach the final, the pair could meet again on Saturday.
