Cornwall's short mat bowls team ended their 2008-09 Inter-County Championship campaign with a heavy 35-5 defeat by Somerset at the weekend.

Somerset ensured the runners-up spot behind Devon in their group having been level on points with Cornwall.

Cornwall won just three matches throughout the match at Wincanton.

Nigel Nicholls won in the singles, Gillian Carse and Percy Tripp in the pairs and Kath Goodman, Peter Sully and Carol and Graham Ford in the fours.
