Cornwall's short mat bowls team beat Dorset to climb off the bottom of their group in the Inter County Championship on Sunday. The county side, playing on their home rink at Bodmin, beat their visitors 25 points and 196 shots to 15 and 168. Cornwall had a strong start, winning three of the first four matches before sharing the second and third sessions. Final session wins for one of the triples sides and for the four, along with a draw, secured the victory. Cornwall have one more match left in the group stages of the Inter County Championship, away to Somerset on 4 January. A big win there could see them overtake their opponents for second place in the group, behind runaway leaders Devon.
