Cornwall's short mat bowls team won their first Inter-County Championship match of the season with a 190-172 shot win over Somerset on Saturday. The victory gave Cornwall 26 points as they stay in third place in their group, but they have closed the gap on second-placed Somerset to four points. After an even first half Cornwall won all four matches in the third session to take an eight point lead at Bodmin. It was a lead they held onto to take their maiden victory of the campaign. Cornwall's next match is away to Devon on Saturday, 8 November, at Winkleigh before the visit of Dorset on Saturday, 30 November.
