Agathangelou loses to top seeds

Agathangelou hopes to make it to the 2012 Olympics

Jersey badminton player Mariana Agathangelou has been knocked out in the semi-final stage of the Bitburger Open in Germany.

The Grand Prix tournament attracted players from all over the world.

Playing with mixed-doubles partner Robin Middleton they pair were defeated in three sets by the number one seeds Larsen and Kristensen from Denmark.

They won the first set 21-18 and were 16-16 in the second before the Danes pulled away to win the second 21-16.

The third set was a repeat of the second set going to the Danish 21-15.

In the women's doubles Agathangelou with partner Jillie Cooper of Scotland lost in the quarter finals, this time to the Danish paring of Kruse and Kristensen.

Agathangelou will next play in two weeks time in the Netherlands in the Dutch Open.
