Cann did not lose a game until Pittard gained revenge for her 2008 defeat |
Jersey's Elizabeth Cann lost to Jill Pittard in the English National Championships final in Milton Keynes. Cann, the top seed, did not drop a game on her way to the final but lost a dramatic final game in sudden death. But Coventry's Pittard, the second seed who was beaten by Cann in the final last year, got her revenge despite losing the first game 19-21. Pittard took the second game 21-14 before an epic third which Pittard eventually took 27-25. Cann, 29, has won the national title three times, winning in 2005, 2007 and 2008.
