Badminton
Cann was beaten by the same woman who denied her Commonwealth bronze

Jersey's Elizabeth Cann and Mariana Agathangelou were both losing finalists at the Yonex Dunfermline Badminton Championships on Sunday.

Cann lost 21-8, 21-16 in the singles final to Scotland's Susan Hughes, the same opponent who beat her to a bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Mariana Agathangelou, top-seeded with partner Jillie Cooper in the women's doubles, was also disappointed.

The pair lost 21-14, 17-21, 19-21 to Sarah Bok and Heather Olver.

Cann said she would now regroup for the Swedish Open in a fortnight and the English Nationals the following week.

"I didn't play very well in the final, but that's sport. now I'll just have to get myself ready for Sweden and Nationals," she said.

Agathangelou, in her final year of university, will also be competing in Sweden and at the Nationals.
