No shocks in Championship's cup

Willis Cup winners First Tower squeezed into the Championship's Touzel Trophy semi-finals on Saturday.

First Tower beat Magpies on penalties after a 2-2 draw after extra time while St Brelade defeated St Lawrence 3-1.

Portuguese Club defeated Jersey Nomads 4-2 - Joao Antunes' brace and one each for Carlos Carolo and Jose-Manuel Viera set up a semi-final against St John.

Portuguese take on St John on 28 January and St Brelade face First Tower a day earlier in the semi-finals.

Matt Godel scored twice in St Brelade's win with former St Lawrence striker Ollie Nightingale grabbing the other.

In the one game to be played in the Championship St John came away from bottom side St martin/SCF with a 1-0 win thanks to Arthur Illingworth's goal.

They stay third-from-bottom but are now level on points with seventh-placed St Brelade.
